Chaos Theory
Переглядів 97 тис.2 роки тому
Weather forecasts are improving all the time but, despite huge progress in science and technology, there remains a limit on how far ahead the future can be predicted. This limit is due to chaos theory, the idea that the flap of a butterfly's wings in Brazil could lead to a tornado in Texas. Whilst this may be a slight exaggeration, chaos theory can have a powerful impact on weather forecasts bu...

What are the Air Masses?
Переглядів 51 тис.2 роки тому
The UK’s weather is notoriously fickle. We are surrounded by so many different influences: a large ocean to the west; a continent to the east. Mid-summer heat can originate in North Africa, but in the winter the North wind doth blow and we shall have snow - sometimes. These various influences are also known as air masses. But what are air masses and how do different air masses affect the UK? Pr...

How jet streams affect our weather: an in-depth guide
Переглядів 97 тис.3 роки тому
Jet streams are fast-flowing currents of air that meander around the world at around 8 to 15 kilometres above sea level. We know that these high-altitude winds affect the weather at the surface, but how? In this in-depth guide, we explain how faster winds within the jet impact the shape of the larger jet stream and what this means for the weather at the surface. We also take a detailed look at ...

Thank you very much

I hate stratus there are the ugliest looking clouds and altostratus are so boring
Cold is high pressure. Hot is low pressure. This gets that all wrong.
Wow this is sooo helpful 🙄
Earth has a mix of oxygen and NITROGEN, not HYDROGEN in its atmosphere.
The temperature on Saturn should be MINUS 167 Celsius. It cannon be so hot there!
who else came from the description because they were writing a project??😭😭

This is oddly terrifying 💀
Airplanes fly into the jet stream when traveling east and certain latitudes when traveling west to avoid the jet stream.
Why no audio?

Who's here from Ms McComish science class
The 30 minute rule for staying inside after the last rumble finally became understood when a bolt from the blue struck under a mile away from me in a sunny sky. It was like a hairline crack in a blue stained glass window.
Nice!
Excellently explained.
Sooooooo... hmmmmmm... if let's say one has the constant feeling that he's living in some sort of a movie, does that perception violate chaos theory? Or is there something completely wrong with what is around him. Let's say a rock star. Does chaos theory apply to rock stars? Shouldn't they be feeling the chaotic nature of the universe? Or better yet, depression. Or mental illness in general. Let's stick to depression for now. A constant state of hopelessness. Shouldn't chaos theory predict that such a state is impossible because the feelings that a people get should be heavily dependent on the side of the bed he wakes up in the morning? Or those people suffering from OCD. How? Hmmm... there stuck in a loop or what? Weird theory. I mean... Chaos chaos chaos, some systems are not chaotic, but when pushed to the limit they become chaotic. Strange...
My search for better explaination, ended here. Thanks a lot
Wow this was so helpful 👏🏼
